Comparison of the development of desire-belief system between typical children and autism children.

Abstract
Objective To explore the development of desire-belief system of autism children and compare with typical children. Methods Autism children with mental age from 3~5-year-old (n=18) and typical children from 3~5-year-old (n=18) were tested by diverse desire,diverse belief and false belief tasks.The two groups of participants were matched well on mental age and gender. Results It was shown that both two types of children could complete divers desire task; however autism children failed on diverse belief and false belief tasks(P<0.05). Conclusion The results implied that autism children with mental age from 3~5-year-old could understand desire but not belief.
