Abstract

Extensive behavioral and cognitive assessments have indicated that offspring of diabetic mothers (ODMs) are at a higher risk for neurodevelopmental disorders. However, studies on brain structure and function in ODMs remain very limited. This article reviews the application of neuroimaging techniques, including ultrasonography, magnetic resonance imaging, magnetoencephalography, and electroencephalography, to summarize alterations in brain structure and function in ODMs, with the aim of identifying early indicators of abnormal brain development and providing theoretical support for early child healthcare interventions.
