Abstract

Objective To investigate the effect of milk tea consumption on glucose and lipid metabolism in young mice, so as to provide reference for the prevention and treatment of metabolic disorders in young individuals. Methods Twenty male ICR mice were randomly divided into the control group and milk tea group, with 10 mice in each group. Mice in the control group drank water normally, while mice in the milk tea group were given both water and milk tea for 12 hours each day. After 2 weeks, the blood glucose and lipids of mice were detected. The protein levels of peroxisome proliferator-activated receptor-γ coactivator-1α(PGC-1α) in different tissues were detected. Results Compared with the control group, the body weight of mice in the milk tea group increased significantly at the end of the second week(t=2.402,P<0.05), the fasting blood glucose level increased but there was no significant difference(P>0.05), the glucose tolerance was significantly impaired(P<0.05), and total cholesterol(T-CHO) and low-density lipoprotein cholesterol(LDL-C) levels significantly increased(t=3.253,5.490,P<0.05). Correlation analysis showed that there was a significant positive correlation between body weight and blood glucose(R²=0.71,P<0.05). The expression levels of PGC-1α in liver, skeletal muscle and white adipose tissues of milk tea group were obviously inhibited(P<0.05). Conclusion The consumption of milk tea can induce glucose and lipid metabolism dysfunction in young mice, which may be related to the inhibition of PGC-1α expression in liver, skeletal muscle and white adipose tissues.
