Objective To investigate the status of primary teeth caries prevalence among 3 to 6-year-old kindergarten children in Haidian district of Beijing, in order to provide epidemiological basis for prevention and control of teeth caries in children.Method Totally 5 586 children aged 3~6 from 16 kindergartens in Haidian district of Beijing were investigated for oral health status from March to April in 2015 and the results were statistically analyzed.Results The caries prevalence of children in this study was 64.43%.The caries prevalence increased with the increasing age of children (χ2=133.549, P<0.001).The caries dmft value was 3.70±4.10.The differences on caries dmft among children at different age groups were statistically significant (F= 61.323, P<0.001).The affected teeth were mainly located in anterior teeth in younger children, while molars were more easily affected in older children.Conclusions The caries prevalence of deciduous teeth in Haidian district of Beijing is relatively high.Targeted caries prevention and intervention strategies should be carried out according to the characteristics of teeth caries in children at different age stages.
