Abstract

Objective To test the reliability and validity of the Family Functioning Assessment Scale for Children (FFAS-C).Methods A total of 2 931 children aged 7~12 years old in Shanghai were selected and stratified by age and grade as the main variables. All children filled out FFAS-C,their parents completed the Family Function Device-the General Function (GF).FFAS-C was retested with the same procedure after 255 days of interval. Results The Cronbach's α coefficient of FFAS-C was 0.808,and the internal consistency reliability coefficient of each dimension was between 0.603 and 0.729.The Pearson correlation coefficient of each item and the total score was between 0.431 and 0.607 (P<0.01).Spearman-Brown half confidence coefficient was 0.822,Guttman half confidence was 0.815,the retest correlation coefficient was 0.74 (P<0.01).The results of exploratory factor analysis showed that FFAS-C could be divided into three factors, which were verified by confirmatory factor analysis. The high-score group of GF was higher than those of score group-low of GF in the total score and each dimension score of FFAS-C (P<0.01).Conclusion The FFAS-C has good reliability and validity.
