Abstract: Numerous epidemiological and animal experimental studies have shown that in addition to lifestyle and genetic inheritance, exposure to adverse factors in early life may increase the risk of metabolic diseases in adult offspring by affecting fetal telomere length. However, the mechanism by which early exposure to adverse factors increases the risk of metabolic diseases is still unclear. Exploring telomere biological information may provide new avenues for predicting adverse environmental exposure in early life and postnatal health issues.
