Clinical significance of serum levels of IL-17,ECP,and IgE detection in children with bronchial asthma

Abstract
Objective To study the clinical significance of detecting serum levels of IL-17,ECP and IgE in children with bronchial asthma(BA). Method The serum levels of IL-17,ECP and IgE were detected in 82 children with light-midrange asthma and compared with those of 20 healthy children in the healthy control group. Results The serum levels of IL-17,ECP and IgE in the BA group were significantly higher than those in the healthy control group,there were significant differences(all P<0.01).The serum levels of ECP and IgE in the acute exacerbation group were significantly higher than those in the remission group(all P<0.01),and the serum level of IL-17 in the acute exacerbation group was mildly higher than that in the remission group,but there were no significant differences (P>0.05).The serum level of ECP was actively correlated with the serum levels of IgE in children with asthma(r=0.337,P<0.01).The serum level of IL-17 was no actively correlated with the serum level of ECP and IgE.But the serum levels of IL-17 was actively correlated with the serum level of ECP and IgE in the acute exacerbation group(r=0.314 and 0.325,P<0.05). Conclusions IL-17,as a complicated cytokine,is possibly involved in eosinophilic inflammation mediating asthma.Detecting the change of the serum level of ECP and IgE is of very important clinical value in detection and treatment of pathogenetic inflammation for children with bronchial asthma.
